EARLY JAZZ & RHYTHM GUITAR
An in-demand rhythm guitarist and accompanist in the older styles associated with jazz, John plays regularly around the UK and in Europe with a whole host of performers, and is a member of the Cable Street Rag Band, led by Ewan Bleach. Based in ragtime, New Orleans jazz and swing, the quintet also explores a mixture of dance rhythms connected to, and influencing, the early years of jazz - from French-Caribbean beguines/rumbas to polkas and Viennese waltzes and more.

THE FLEETING PARADISE ORCHESTRA
The Fleeting Paradise Orchestra is a 10-12 piece ensemble led by virtuoso saxophone/clarinet player Ewan Bleach loosely based on, but not restricted to, the jazz bands of the late 1920s. Repertoire from the likes of Duke Ellington, Bennie Moten, King Oliver etc. and other 'territory bands' of the era, alongside some dance band and 1930s arrangements, are mixed with Bleach's original compositions, which explore musical concepts and influences on the early jazz bands which are frequently overlooked.
